- Introductions: There was one new member on board
the bus, Lupe Coleman of the Family and Community Outreach Network. Welcome Aboard, Lupe!
- Review of Conference and Questions: Dr. Wells went over the research questions
from the conference, giving the percentages of people who answered each
question and the percentages of the different answers they gave. Overall, the answers were
favorable towards the Building Wellness Working Group plans. There was
some discussion about feedback and whether or not there was enough
opportunity for the audience to give feedback. Pluscedia Williams spoke with several audience members
including David Ryu, and Armond Anderson Bell, both of whom spoke
positively about the conference.
There were a good number of new people who had not previously been
Òon the busÓ before.
- Proposal:
Pluscedia Williams spoke with Kavita Patel, and Kavita, or a member of her
team is going to write a proposal for a monitor for the Building Wellness
website. This proposal is
only for Building Wellness. Building Wellness will still be a part of the overall
W4W website, but any funds that result from Kavita PatelÕs proposal will
be used solely for Building Wellness.
- Action Item:
Charla Franklin proposes that times be put on the agenda so that thereÕs
enough time to finish everything on the agenda.
- Website: The
scope of the website is to train the provider. There will be a client information packet. This will
contain information about the services they provide and whether the
patient is qualified for that particular place. This will be a pilot program. The content will be: screening, client information
packet, and referrals. There will be different phases of development. In
other words, the website will gradually develop over a period of time.
Youlim Choi says it is best to avoid chat rooms or anything
interactive. However, there
is a way to count people who log in.
- The Plan: We will divide the Building
Wellness Group into three smaller groups. Each sub-division will take on a
different segment of the website. The work will be done simultaneously, in
three groups and with a separate timeline for each. These are the Toolkit Groups. Charla Franklin and Jan French
will do Screening & Assessment.
Erica Shoemaker, Pluscedia Williams, and Lupe Coleman will do
Education. Ted Booker and
Stella Tilghman will do Referrals (which involves developing a strategy to
do referrals). Drew Jones and
Ken Wells will do the pilot. Ken will also work on the research aspect and
as a resource to all the groups.
Erica Shoemaker will act as a resource on child issues.
- Action Item:
Each Toolkit Group will bring an outline of their groupÕs activity. This
phase is the Discovery phase.
- Partners in Care, et al: Dr. Wells brought
several different assessment questionnaires for the group to look over and
study. These included a Depression Toolkit from his book, a Partners in
Care Initial Visit Worksheet, and a Patient Health Questionnaire
(PHQ-9). Partners on Care
also has a website already up and running.
- Other: Both Drew Jones and Ted Booker
have a special interest in youth which they would like to explore in
regards to Depression.
- Next Meeting:
August 27th, 2004 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
