v    Ed Corbett lays out the format for future meetings:

á      All meetings will be on the 1st Wednesday of the month.

á      At the present time, members of the sub-group do not need to attend the meetings of the full Talking Wellness Group.  He will let the sub-group know if and when they need to attend any of the other meetings.

á      Confidentiality will be maintained at all times during these meetings.

á      We are dealing with depression as it elates to the environment, so Ed would like for everyone to keep a confidential diary and document the times when they have spells or mood swings of depression.  The diaries will be supplied at a later date

á      Everyone should keep all the paperwork that they are given during these meetings.  Ed is going to try to bring folders to the next meeting so that everyone will have a place to keep their papers together.

v    In order for us to do a picture-taking project, we must get IRB approval. However, there was some discussion of the project.

á      Cameras are available as low as $3.99 at Wal-mart and $9.99 with free film for the life of the camera at Sav-on

á      Disposable cameras will be provided when the time comes.

á      No pictures are to be taken of other peopleÑjust places and things.

á      Do not use the Internet capability at Walmart.

v    Other Topics:

á      -Ed talked about some of the other projects he has worked on; such as making the AIDS epidemic known when people were not acknowledging that there was an epidemic.

á      There was also talk of getting some of our well-known community members to help out: Keyshawn Jones, Chris Hammend, and Magic Johnson were mentioned.

á      One thing that was made clear is that at no time during this project shall there be any blame, accusations, or personal attacks on any person, place, or thing, either within the group, or directed at someone outside the group.

á      Community advocacy badges were mentioned, but it was decided that we would not need them now, maybe later. EveryoneÕs contribution will be acknowledged. This is a community project and in the long run we will help the community and ourselves.

á      Website: Charles Drew University & UCLA must get IRB approval for a website, too. Meanwhile, all pictures will be catalogued.  We will have a video with people who look and sound like us when the time comes.

á      In closing, Ed asked that everyone not only keep their copies of the minutes but also to read them, especially if they have missed a meeting.

á      Next meeting date:  August 4, 2004 at the HAAF office, 3856 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.  Suite 209, Los Angeles, CA
